· Pop Culture
I feel more open to accept different strange styles since I have been in the US. In China, people have less time to dress then up in a strange style, some old people in China even cannot accept cosplay. But when i came to Chicago, I have seen a lot of strange hair styles and clothing styles. At first, when I see those strange styles, I want to laugh, but now, I can accept them. I think that’s good for people to show their difference.
I aware that it’s hard for people to accept a totally different culture in short time. In addition, I find that different kinds of culture can make our like more colorful. I also learn the difference between pop culture and high culture. Pop culture and high culture are different, but in some times, they are in common.
· Cultural Identity
It's talks about my hometown Chongqing, China. Chongqing in map is like a Chinese Word "mountain". And the most favorite Chongqing food is hot pot. Diaojiaolou is a kind of specially building in Chongqing and southwest of China. Chongqing has a lot of hot springs. Because there are a lot of mountain in Chongqing, there are some karat caves. And one of the place you need to visit most in Chongqing is Chaotianmen.
· Reading
The reading which I interested most is Do I Look Like Public Enemy Number One? That essay said that Arabic people was not accept by American people many years ago. Because at that time America had a war with Iraq. I did not know TV or newspaper give some news that not true, and want to use these news to let people misunderstanding people from other countries. I think that is very bad. And I also learned that people need a long time to accept another countries’ culture.
· Music
The band I like best is Coldplay. And my favorite songs are Yellow and Viva La Vida.I think the 4 members are very talent in music. The lyrics are very beautiful, and I like the melodies they written. I like different kinds of music, such as rock music, country music, and so on. In most times, I choose to listen a song was just because the song itself, but not the type of music.
· Movies
The movie Roman Holiday is a very famous in the world. The main actor of this movie is Gregory Peck, and the main actress is Audrey Hepburn. Audrey is my favorite actress, she was very beautiful and graceful. This movie was filmed in Rome, Italy, a very beautiful place. The story is about a princess Ann that got tired of her boring life when she was traveling to Italy, at that night, she went out alone after she get some hypnotics, and a little while later, she feel sleepy, and slept in street. And then, the reporter Joe Bradley found her and took her to his house. The next day, Ann wants to leave, and Joe follow for his news. It was the first time that Princes Ann walks in the street alone, so she felt excited. She bought new shoes, cut her hair, and had a lot of fun with Joe in Rome. And after that night, they took a dance party. During that party, princes Ann had been found.
· Food
In Custom-Made, I learned that people in different places like different tastes of food. So food companies will change a little taste of their food in different place. In The Only Way to Have a Cow, I found some interesting fact. Cows are not friendly to environment when they belch. And grass fed cow are more healthy than corn fed cow. On the other hand, grass fed cow will much expensive than corn fed cow. Those are the facts that I first know.

· TV
I like the TV show American Idol. People who came to this show are usually ordinary people. Maybe they do not have charming look, but they have good voice. There is no doubt that American Idol is pop culture, because a lot of people watch this show, and most of them sang pop music in this show. I think this show is a positive thing for people, it let people know that everyone can have a dream, and everyone has right to let his or her dream come true.
